Facebook denies bug is making old private messages public

Some Facebook users are reporting old private messages are showing up on their public timelines.

The messages are from 2007 to 2010.

Facebook says reports the reports are not true.

The social media giant says users may be confusing so-called wall posts that were always public with private messages.

It says it is ``satisfied that there has been no breach of user privacy.''

Facebook is estimated to have more than 900 million users worldwide including about 18 million in Canada.

You can hide the messages again by clicking the pencil on the top right and then choosing hide.
