Business community urgent appeal to PQ government
Quebec's business community joined in one voice today to appeal to the Marois government to slow down.
"Worrisome". "Indecent". "Catastrophic". The adjectives became increasingly powerful as the news conference wore on. Quebec's business community, as represented by the Quebec Federation of Chambers of Commerce, says it's very worried about two things: first, the actual announcements made by the Marois government, in particular, hikes in the capital gains tax and a retroactive income tax increase for higher-income earners. And second, the suddenness and unilateral nature of the various announcements.
Chambers of Commerce Federation president Francoise Bertrand warns of a terrible impact on businesses themselves, but also on the province's capacity to raise the revenue necessary to ensure Quebecers' quality of life.
With that, the business community urged the Marois government to slow down.
