NHL cancels 82 games

The start of the NHL's regular season has been pushed back by the lockout.

The league cancelled the first two weeks of the 2012-13 season, which was scheduled to begin Oct. 11 with four games.

In all, 82 games were wiped out through Oct. 24.

Despite negotiating regularly throughout the summer, the NHL and NHL Players' Association have been unable to make much progress in collective bargaining talks.

The lockout is into its 19th day and the sides currently don't have any negotiating sessions scheduled.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly claimed earlier this week that the lockout has cost the league almost US$100 million in lost revenue.

awww thats a shame...100 million lost.... i hope both sides wake up, fast...because 100 million will turn into billions very fast, and all over a couple of percentage of HRR...come on...this is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard...billionaires and millionaires disputing a couple of percentage that will never change their way of life. Do they not realize without Fans there is no game??
