Long-time SQ officer arrested
The fate of a provincial police officer accused of possessing and producing child pornography is still unclear.
Francois Blouin, who is in his forties, was arrested at his Sherbrooke home Tuesday following a search.
SQ spokesperson Christine Coulombe says they found child porn.
"The material will now be analyzed," she says.
The officer, who has twenty years experience on the force, was formally charged by phone last evening. He will remain detained until his next court date on Friday.
The SQ says they acted after they received some information from another Canadian police force.
The officer for the moment has been relieved of his duties. It's unclear whether he will continue to get a salary during court proceedings.
