The road behind Uniprix Stadium in Jarry Park is being renamed after Expos great Gary Carter, who died earlier this year.

A stretch of Rue Faillon Ouest is being renamed Rue Gary Carter -- and the baseball park inside Ahuntsic Park is going to be called Gary Carter Place.

Former baseball commentator Rodger Brulotte was tasked with coming up with a suitable honour.

"You look at it. International street. Gary Carter. The world of tennis will know Gary Carter and the world of baseball will know the stadium Gary Carter," he said.

There will be an official naming ceremony next May for the park and the street, and he says there will also be some honour involving the Olympic Stadium that they'll announce at another time.
