UPAC staging raids in Laval again

Posted By: Canadian Press · 10/16/2012 7:30:00 AM

A spokeswoman for the unit says about 50 investigators from the department's Hammer Squad have been deployed, though she would not confirm their location.

Media reports place the officers in Laval.

Squad members are conducting searches and interviewing witnesses, but spokeswoman Anne-Frederick Laurence says no arrests are
expected. She says today's operation is part of an ongoing investigation.

Raids last week targeted offices belonging to companies in the construction industry. Earlier this month, officers searched the personal residence of Laval Mayor Gilles Vaillancourt.
