The amounts of the kickbacks former City of Montreal engineer Gilles Surprenant admits to receiving from sewer construction companies would vary considerably, depending on the overall value of the given contract.

Surprenant says he would receive as little as $1000 and as much as $20,000.  The witness confirming that while he generally considerably less than the previous alleged 1% of the value of the contract, he still managed to amass a little over $150,000 over a one and a half year period, beginning in early 2000.

The most generous of the construction executives he says, was the owner of the defunct Infrabec construction company,  Lino Zambito.

The commission has now examined roughly one third of the ninety-one contract awards Surprenant says crossed his desk between 2000 and 2009.
