School fees 101

Posted By: CJAD · 10/24/2012 6:06:00 PM

It's been long due, a comprehensive list of which school fees are mandatory and what the law says parents should NOT be paying for.

The guide was released by the Quebec Federation of Parents Committees.

Spokesperson Marc Charland says in August and September his office is blasted with queries about who pays for what.

For some parents the cost of sending each kid to school can run into the hundreds of dollars.

The law says what parents do not have to pay for are textbooks, photocopies replacing textbooks, dictionaries, musical instruments and more.

Charland says all the information parents need is in the fact sheet, which should be in all school boards by the end of this or next week.

I say education should all be free..... HEY, at the higher level they got away with the raise in education and now they are going for FREE education,,,,, why do the primary and high school level have to pay anything? EVERYTHING should be free! Let's all go out with our POTS AND PANS! Oh, while we are on the topic of FREE why do people over 65 years old still have to pay SCHOOL TAXES? They paid enough taxes and have no more of their own children in school... also some of them never even had children.... Again, so WHY are they paying SCHOOL TAXES? It should be FREE school taxes for them... So, let's go out with our POTS AND PANS!!!!!!
