Fires send more than a dozen people to hospital
About a hundred people got a rude awakening overnight when a fire broke out inside their apartment building on Doctor Penfield.
It happened on the 8th floor of a 13-storey building at 1530 Doctor Penfield.
One woman in her twenties was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Her life is not in danger.
The Montreal fire department believes the blaze was caused by an electrical issue.
Meanwhile, in south shore Longueuil, sixteen people were sent to hospital, most of the them suffering from smoke inhalation, after a fire broke out inside an apartment building on rue Sainte-Helene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
