Quebec moves forward with flu vaccine campaign
At-risk Quebecers will still get their shot at the flu vaccine starting this week.
A major pharmaceutical company has had its product pulled, but the health ministry says 90 percent of its supply was supposed to come from other sources anyway.
"There are other manufacturers who can provide the flu vaccine so there should not be a shortage. It should not stop you from getting the flu vaccine," says CJAD health expert Dr. Mitch Shulman.
"The good news is there's at least three different manufacturers, at least eight different vaccines available."
Quebec's flu vaccine campaign will start this Thursday, as scheduled, and the health ministry says it does not foresee any shortages.
Young children, pregnant women, and the elderly should still have access to the shot for free.
