Environment Canada says Montreal got off easy with Superstorm Sandy and we have already seen the worst of it.

Besides winds gusting to about 80 km/h and scattered power outages, police aren't reporting any damage from the storm.

Hydro Quebec as of 8 a.m. is reporting about 49-thousand power outages across the province, with the hardest hit areas in the Laurentians and the Lanaudiere.

Montreal  had about 1000 clients still in the dark as of 8 a.m.

Meanwhile, dozens of flights are cancelled at Trudeau Airport to New York, New Jersey, Washington, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit and Chicago.

Some flights to Toronto were also cancelled.

Via Rail says its trains are back up and running but do expect some minor delays.
