MNA calls metro incident "intolerance"

Posted By: Angelica Montgomery · 10/30/2012 4:30:00 PM

D'Arcy McGee MNA Lawrence Bergman says a recent altercation with a metro ticket-taker is an incident of intolerance.

"This is intolerance. There's no excuse for that in our society," says the MNA, whose riding represents people in Côte Saint-Luc and Hampstead.

A metro rider says she was assaulted by an STM employee after she addressed the worker in English. The agency denies that language was at the heart of the altercation.

Bergman says the story is upsetting. "It's the task of all politicians on all sides of the house to speak to moderation, to speak to tolerance, to speak to being understanding."

I applaud Mr Bergman gfor having to courage to speak truth to power when an injustice is committed. I hope that other politicians in our city can find it within their heart to find the courage to speak out against those who see fit to treat people like 2nd class citizens in our own city. once=incident. Twice=Coincident. thrice=pattern of behavior. There is something definitely WRONG in the STM the days.

I also applaud Mr. Bergman for speaking out. Where is Pauline she should be a example of telling the provence what Mr. Bergman has said. I guess she is enjoying all this violent abuse to anyone that is not french. How disgusting this government is!!!
