Lafontaine tunnel losing its last paralumes
The lafontaine tunnel is being closed on the Montreal-bound side over the weekend so work crews can finally finish removing those paralumes we all became familiar with following the collapse of one of the overhead concrete structures in the Ville-Marie tunnel in late-july of 2011.
The paralumes have already been removed in the southbound Lafontaine tunnel. Now, Transport Quebec's Caroline Larose says, it's the turn of the northbound side of the Lafontaine into Montreal.
Those closures are in effect as of eleven this evening, until 5 am Monday.
Larose says similar paralumes in the Dorval tunnel on autoroute 13 and in the Ville Marie tunnel are deemed safe and secure, but will also eventually be removed.
