Nadeau-Dubois defence fund raises $58,000

He held a news conference Friday to announce he would appeal his contempt of court conviction.

Within 48-hours , he had received $58-thousand to help pay his legal fees.

Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois a former student leader was found guilty of contempt last week after he counselled students to ignore a court injunction during the tuition protest last spring.

Nadeau-Dubois told his Twitter followers last night that donations had poured in from more than 1700-donors.

The CSN union, where he works as a researcher, says it is supporting him and is urging other unions to do so as well.

    Wow the students had no problem raising money for an anarchist's defense, but have no money for tuition fees. This fool should be read the charges again real slow so he understands the severity of them and then thrown in jail to reflect.

    He knew what he was doing and had a legal team to advise him. What about the rights of the students to attend class and who paid for their legal fees.

    Imagine if they put their efforts in raising money to pay for their tuition hikes then none of this would of happened etc... now there will be 58,000 dollars going to waste, people just don's learn This is like the tiger chasing his tail round and round until the tiger turns to butter, Quebec will become a liquid and just spill into the st.     How about giving this money to the students who were blocked from their classes by CLASSE after they had paid for their tuition!

    Another Quebecois with his hand out. I told you Friday the Union would pay for him. Since we know he will never pay a fine out of his pocket hopefully they will put him in jail and his criminal offence will mean the only job he will be able to get is with a Union or Government of Quebec!!! Maybe even head of PQ!!!

    what a misguided bunch of yahoos who were doling out money to this Nadeau caracter.First he helps to create mayhem in the city by encouraging all the red squar twits to disobey the law,also creating the "right conditions" to have the separatist taking over the government, Now he smiles because he is getting donations to cover his A...... LOOK OUT FOR THIS GUY... the quebec political landscape has always been a fertile breedingground for his kind of intellectuals......

    nadeau is a loser. It is tragic that the csn is supporting him. In other words my money goes to his defence!!! Enraging...he is just a troublemaker. The average student has to work their butt off just to survive and this !!?? has the balls to ask for money...Shame on the csn. I am ashamed to have them as my union. But I do believe in justice and nadeau is not unique. He will pay the price one day....what goes around, comes around!!! Just look at the Charbeneau Commission....

    Maybe he can pay his rent now! I am sure his past landlord who was evicting him for unpaid rent would appreciate some of that $58000.
