Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois a former student leader was found guilty of contempt last week after he counselled students to ignore a court injunction during the tuition protest last spring.
Nadeau-Dubois told his Twitter followers last night that donations had poured in from more than 1700-donors.
The CSN union, where he works as a researcher, says it is supporting him and is urging other unions to do so as well.
