A magnitude 4.2 earthquake frayed nerves and woke many in southern Quebec Tuesday morning.

Earthquakes Canada said the quake happened at 4:05AM and the epicentre was in Buckingham.

The earthquake was felt by people living in a wide geographical area.

CJAD 800 received calls from listeners north of Val David, east of Hawkesbury and on and around the island of Montreal.

It was the second mild but noticeable earthquake to impact the area in less than a month.

A magnitude 4.5 quake was registered on October 10th and epicentered near Saint-Hyacinthe.
