A large fire erupted in Old Montreal Thursday evening.

Flames broke out on the top floor of a 6-storey building under renovation on St Jacques between Place D'Armes and St Laurent, but then spread to the roof.

The building is located behind the structure housing the La Presse newspaper, where evacuations were ordered.

There've been no reports of injuries.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
