UPDATE:  Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt quits after 23-year run

It's decision day for Laval Mayor Gilles Vaillancourt.

In a communique, the mayor's office says Vaillancourt will speak to reporters at a news conference at 2:00pm where he'll update us on "his situation".

Vaillancourt has been out of sight for two weeks, contemplating his future amid a growing list of allegations of corruption.

Police recently raided his bank, his home, his city hall offices and his condo.

If the allegations against him are true, (The Charbonneau Commision) then every piece of infrastructure built sine he became mayor should be investigated for any structural defects. (Example: the de la Souvenir and de la Concorde overpasses)
Is that why they collapsed, because of this supposed "Commission being paid?)

GOODBYE, SO LONG, FAREWELL, one less crook to deal with. They should all be ashamed to show their faces in public. Now how about reimbursing the poor people of Laval and Montreal for all the extra money we've paid in taxes. The next few years should be tax-free. Come on, it's time to pay back.
The crooks should have their pensions suspended and pro-rated to the time they started taking bribes and stealing our money. If they were honest for 10 years, their pension should be paid by the city based on their salary earned during those 10 years. They certainly do not deserve full pensions.

Third world countries and quebec are corrupt and no longer will i judge those countries after seeing the fiasco in quebec. Essentially a ghetto where one must speak french to get anywhere and corruption is a way of life for most. Can one suppose then that speaking french is the route to being corrupt?
