Vote for interim mayor draws to a close
The race to replace Gerald Tremblay as mayor of Montreal is heating up.
Anyone who wishes to submit their name as a candidate has until 4:30 on Thursday.
One of those people who seems to be positioning himself to do just that is former chair of the executive committee Michael Applebaum.
For the past 48 hours or so he has been in negotiations with opposition parties and with his own party to win their support. A report by Radio-Canada says he has already won the support of at least ten elected officials in Union Montreal.
Opposition parties say they have not yet decided who they will support.
The council will vote on Friday.
