Mayoralty race opens up in CDN-NDG
There could be another mayoralty race brewing - this one in the borough of Côte-des-Neiges-NDG.
Acting mayor Lionel Perez has announced he's tossing his hat into the ring to run for interim mayor of the borough until next year's municipal elections.
Michael Applebaum had to step down from his duties since being chosen as interim mayor of Montreal.
Long time councillor Marvin Rotrand has indicated his interest in the job but has not announced his intentions yet.
Perez said he has the support of the rest of council and that Applebaum, while not taking sides, encouraged him to run.
Perez said as pro-mayor, he's continuing in the same vein as his predecessor by opening up the borough administration: he's making city council documents available on the web on the day of the meeting and they're also providing live streaming of council meetings.
If there is more than one candidate, a vote will take place Monday.
