Montrealers in for a snowier winter

If you were expecting a winter like last year, when we had a mainly rainy event with few storms, it's not going to happen.

Even the first major snowfall was delayed and didn't happen until January of this year.

Dave Phillips, Senior Climatologist at Environment Canada predicts your shovel will get more of a workout than usual.

"We're calling for it to be either a normal or above normal snowfall season." said Phillips.

"So I think you'll be shovelling, plowing and pushing more snow.  You'll be in even better shape.  It'll be good for the snow industry, but you'll be spending more on your home heating bills. "

Phillips forecasts a winter that is going to arrive earlier and stay later.

Montreal averages around 220 centimetres of snow each winter.
