Customers of the Brick who were suing the retail giant over misleading advertising have settled out of court.

Quebec Superior Court has approved the deal which sees the company pay out over two million dollars as a refund to customers who paid for a financing plan before May 2010.

Those who made purchases before May 1st, 2009 will receive their refund by mail as of January. Those who bought items after that up until April 30, 2010, have to fill out a form on the website, (in french) or (in english), also as of January.

The class action lawsuit was launched three years ago by the consumer lobby group Option Consommateurs. Customers were fighting against the Brick's ads that promised they would pay nothing for 15 months but actually they had to pay $35 in annual join-up fees as part of the financing plan.
