Cyclist killed in Villeray
A 65 year old cyclist has died after being hit by a car in Villeray-St. Michel-Park Ex.
Constable Anie Lemieux says the collision happened around 12:45 at Marquette and Tillemont.
"A small four door vehicle was going west on Tillemont. The driver stopped and let an emergency vehicle pass by that was going on Marquette, just north of the intersection. Then the driver accelerated, colliding with the cyclist.
The victim was rushed to hospital where his death was confirmed shortly after his arrival.
It is possible, according to preliminary information gathered, the cyclist failed to perform a mandatory stop or that the motorist did not see the cyclist because of the sun.
Police add speed was not a factor.
