Clinic refused to treat man, passerby says

Posted By: Richard Deschamps · 12/18/2012 6:35:00 PM

Last Friday afternoon, Ersilia Giordani was walking through the Place Newman mall in Lasalle with her 8-year-old son, when she saw a man writhing on the ground in some discomfort, just outside the entrance to the mall's medical clinic. She says he appeared to have bloodshot eyes, and was unable to speak.

And the clinic's response shocked her.

"A doctor didn't even come close to the door, let alone come out of the clinic to help him," Giordani says.

The man was taken to hospital a short time later, after she phoned 9-1-1.

"If this happened to a family member, I'd be livid."

Seems the clinic was just following standard procedure that afternoon, but someone at the clinic who spoke with CJAD News assured us, they'd act differently if something like that ever happened again.

His identity and condition are still not known.

Now what a lame excuse that is. Just trying to get out of the limelight due to his actions taken. What he should have done is an immediate investigation of the man's
situation and then decide. He undertook no such compassion at all. He should be degraded for not doing what was rightfully right.
To many situations occur and the person or management just states " we will make sure this doesn't happen in the future". It shouldn't have happened at all. where are the true devoted doctors or Dr. Welby's of our age. yes there are some, but few. So sad.

Well ... did he have an appointment? Maybe his Medicare card was expired! But seriously, if he left home with no ID or someone stole his wallet while he was lying there, it would be re-assuring to know that the hospital has identified him and contacted family or friends.

I am not surprised with this. You get a short amount of time to actually even see a doctor there. If you don't get sick before noon your out of Luck. I brought my baby son in with an ear infection. There was no one there. It was 12 01pm I was told I had to come back another day as they were full.
Same thing happened to my friend.
Honestly , what is the point of a clinic if you can't see a doctor?

He should lose his licence. I saw the news today and he was not even sorry. His secretary is an idiot and needs to grow some empathy. I wish someone in her family falls down and no one treats them - lets see if she'd be so non-challant. Useless human beings

@Jenny hi Jenny i agree with u. i watched it and she looks like a dirty middle east woman with no cooth. people like her should be placed to work to pick garbage because she not good enough to deal with humans or animals,no living thing. wat a shame. she even had the nerve to show her face and say so uncaring well we were closing. who the hell says that.what happened to helping a human being. what a loser she deserves to get sick and for the doctors to leave her in the hallway for days not hours.but she probably knows all kinds of doctors n will get the best service. what an idiot. what a ugly human being out and inwards.

Holy Cow! Just out of curiosity I looked up the clinic's web site. Besides being kinda quirky, it's only in English!

Just following standard procedure,he! Sounds right. On doit respecter la loi.
Now it may be interesting to find out what: "they'd act differently" means. Check for English?
