SPCA on the lookout for dognapper

Posted By: Richard Deschamps · 12/19/2012 3:17:00 PM

The Montreal SPCA is asking the public's help in looking for a man who snatched a dog from the SPCA's main facility on Jean-Talon St. W. on Saturday afternoon.

At about 2:10 p.m., security cameras caught the man taking the dog, a 3-month-old female Lab/Shepherd mix, out of a cage, and leaving the facility.

He was then seen going to the parking lot and leaving in a light-colored brown hatchback with two passenger doors.

He did not fill out the adoption papers, nor did he pay the adoption fees.

The SPCA is asking anyone who knows him, or who may have seen him, to contact them immediately at 514-735-2711, extension 0.

Maybe, just maybe he cannot afford to buy a puppy for his son/daughter/grandchild and he took one from the SPCA, what's the big deal. I don't condone theft but this time of year a lot of people are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet - and cannot afford to buy anything for their children. Let's not judge please.

@Heather D. The big deal is this little baby hasn't been spayed yet; he could have taken her for breeding.

Also, if he can't afford the very reasonable adoption fees, he shouldn't have a dog, because he won't be able to care for her and she'll just end up back in a shelter or worse! There is no possible way to say this is acceptable.

@Heather D. If he cannot afford to buy the dog then he cannot afford the costs it takes to take care of a dog...i/e regular vet care, good food etc...especially a dog that size

Good clear pictures and description. Someone must know this guy. Keep an eye on Kiji and Craigslist postings. Hope they nab the dognapper.
