A fire at a gym in St. Leonard overnight and police say it was arson.

Police say the front window was broken at the fitness centre on Jarry near Pascal-Gagnon and the fire was inside.

"The fire was extinguished. After examining the scene, it was determined that accelerants were used to start the fire," said Montreal police spokesman Daniel Lacourcière. "That's why the investigation was transferred to the Montreal police arson squad. Our investigators will go on scene today to examine and analyze the scene to determine exactly what happened.

The gym is in a shopping centre, and while there was considerable damage to the business itself — the businesses next to and above the gym, were not damaged.

No word whether anyone saw what happened and police are still looking for a suspect or suspects.

No one was hurt.
