Downtown sex-assault suspect arrested
Montreal police have confirmed the man they believe was responsible for a sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in downtown Montreal Saturday afternoon is under arrest.
46-year-old Christopher Norman Jost has also been wanted by corrections authorities on a Canada-wide warrant.
Police say at around 3:30 in the afternoon Saturday, the 19-year-old student was taking pictures of the church at the corner of Bishop and Ste-Catherine streets when the man approached her and forced her inside the church's basement, and was forced to touch him sexually before letting her go.
He apparently had the keys to the building.
Police wouldn't say where or under what circumstances he was arrested, but they do say the media coverage of the story, and the multiple repostings and retweetings of it, definitely played a part in police being able to track him down.
