Tiny baby wins epic battle

Each newborn is special, but this baby is a little extra special: a baby that weighed less than a pound when she was born almost four months premature.

Amelia Renard's mom, Caroline Lefebvre, proudly proclaims that hers is a very good baby who hardly ever cries.

Amelia has already had to put up an epic fight for life. She now tips the scale at around four pounds. Still tiny, but more than four times bigger than when she was born by emergency c-section last september. Her parents have lived on a roller coaster of emotions but can finally look forward to bringing their baby home to live and grow like any other child despite being one of the smallest ever premature babies born in Canada.

Mom and Dad have already learned a precious lesson from Amelia: be thankful for each and every day.

What a beautiful way to begin a new year. I too had a premature daughter 23 years ago. She was born 3lbs 11 ounces and Dr. Papageorgiou was the pediatric doctor that took care of her. She was in the hosptial for 49 days and we took her home when she just hit 5lbs. She is now a beautiful lady teaching grade 6 French class at an elementary school down our home. We are so BLESSED and very proud of her. Amelia Renard will grow up to be a beautiful young lady and make her parents proud just like our Christina :) God bless the family and little Amelia for a herioc fight for life. God Bless. You all look so very happy. :)
