Concordia campus conversations
Concordia University is in the midst of a today-only campus consultation as it tries to figure out where to cut in the wake of a Quebec government rollback in operating grants to universities.
Quebec's universities learned only last month that they must cut their operating budgets starting this budget year to the tune of 124-million dollars. Concordia's cut amounts to 13.2 million dollars. But where to cut?
Concordia is putting that question to university staff, faculty and students at a series of closed-door meetings that have been dubbed "campus conversations".
The university says much of the money from current operating budget is already spent, so that an operating deficit is likely this year.
