Police operation over at Laval school

A student has been arrested at a school in Laval this afternoon after a compressed air gun was found in the school.

Police were called to the school earlier today, after a videotaped brawl among students took place there this morning.

On the video it appeared one of the students involved in the brawl put a gun into his backpack.

Police fanned out through the school looking for the weapon, searching lockers, washrooms and other public areas, trying to locate the weapon.

The operation ended when they found the weapon and arrested the young male student.

Police are now saying the school was never in lockdown, but rather, that the students were being kept in their classrooms by their teachers, in order to facilitate the police operation going on in the hallways.
