Time to talk constitution, says Couillard

Quebecers what its values are and ask for recognition in the constitution, Philippe Couillard said in this Sunday's second PLQ leadership debate.

The three candidates hashed out their ideas for cleaning up politics, managing the tax burden, and positioning Quebec within Canada.

When the other two men in the running, Pierre Moreau and Raymond Bachand, were unenthusiastic about re-opening constitutional talks, Couillard said its a festering issue that needs to be dwelt with.

"We can't leave this circle unclosed," he said. "We want to have the certainty that within Canada, we have an action of all Canadians that recognizes the specific nature of Quebec."

Couillard says Quebec needs to decide for itself what makes stand apart. "Then, in the rest of Canada, when they ask us 'what do you mean by specific?' we'll be able to give them an answer that Quebec agrees on," says Couillard.

Actually I think it's too late to try and lever your position into the constitution. Quebec has done so much harm to Canada's reputation that it must be brought to a Canada wide vote as to the fact if Quebec can use French only within it's provincial borders. Also the rest of Canada needs to have the ability of undoing the bilingual crap that has torn this country down and put us all in such debt that it is sinking the country. If it were not for this enormous cost, being close to one Trillion dollars that is the thing we have to be concerned with. Do the English want Quebec in Canada. I used to think yes, but today no. I think Quebec should be thrown out of Canada at least for a year, then Canada should re-negotiate on it's terms how they can join with our country. Also the map of Quebec should be redrawn to effect it's actual size if they left Canada. This should be the size it was in 1867 which would be about 200 miles wide bordering the St. Lawrence River from Ontario to New Brunswick.

    I absolutely agree with Kenneth!
Enough is enough! To the rest of Canada, Quebec stands out as the spoiled, whiny brat! Let the rest of us vote whether they separate!
