Montreal police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was shot to death in Dorval this afternoon.

Police say they got a call just after 5:30 this afternoon about the shooting, which happened on Hamilton St. near Thorncrest.

It appears the boy was shot once in the head by his 12-year-old brother, who is now being met by police investigators.

Urgences Santé tells CJAD News that the younger teen shot his brother by accident while the two were playing with the firearm.

It's not known what type of gun it was.

It also appears the gun was found in the closet of the family home.

The victim was in a state of cardiac arrest when he was being brought to hospital. He was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.

The mother of the two boys was also had to be taken to hospital, suffering from shock.
