A woman in her 60's was struck and killed by a snow removal truck in St. Leonard this evening.

The accident happened near the intersection of Langelier and Paul Emile Lamarche.

Police say the driver of the truck never knew he hit the pedestrian.

Sympathy for the victim's family. Suprised that this does not happen more often. Pedestrians entering ijntersections without looking back to assure that no vehicles are turning into their path. Drivers not slowing down as they approach the intersection and observing if pedestrians are entering the intersection. How can you not see the pedestrians? Slow down.

This is not the first time an accident like this happens. People, stand on the sidewalk before proceeding to cross the street. Drivers, please look around you or in your blind spot before proceeding. It's an intersection, this is Montreal. Pedestrians take so many risks, but one that frightens me the most is when they are waiting to cross, they stick their baby carriages out ahead of them into the street. An accident waiting to happen.
