ObGyn sanctioned in death of pregnant patient
A Longueuil ObGyn has been barred from practicing for a year after pleading guilty to negligence in connection with the death of a pregnant patient.
Dr. Kenneth L. Chan was treating the 27-year-old woman at the Charles Lemoyne Hospital in September 2008.
Soki-Ndulani Syayighosola was 11 weeks pregnant and expecting twins who died. She was experiencing a lot of bleeding and other abdominal problems when she was admitted to hospital.
The Quebec College of Physicians says the doctor failed to look after the patient properly, by monitoring the situation by phone and passing the buck to the emergency room doctor.
The sanction takes effect February 20.
