How much will your rent increase?
The Regie du Logement is out with its rent increase guidelines for 2013.
For apartments heated by the landlord with electricity, the regie suggests a 0.9 per cent rent hike.
For gas heated apartments, it's 0.2 per cent and fuel oil 1.7 per cent.
In cases where the tenant pays for their own heating, the suggested increase is 0.9 per cent.
The Regie says the guidelines don't take into account specific features of each building, and says operating expenses for a building may justify something different from these numbers.
The numbers are just guidelines and are not required — or upper or lower limits.
