A former Quebec lieutenant-goverenor has died.

Martial Asselin, originally from La Malbaie in the Charlevoix region, occupied that post from 1990 to 1996.

He was also Conservative MP in the 60's and became a senator in the 70's.

Asselin, who was 88 , was also mayor of La Malbaie from 1957 to 1963.
