A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a convicted murderer , who escaped his escort while on a day pass from the Saint-Anne-des-Plaines minimum security prison last night.

Raymond Rouette has been behind bars for a long time.

He was convicted of a murder in 1988.

Rouette is 51 years old.

He  is five foot two  and 152-pounds with brown eyes, brown hair and a scar over his left eye.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
