Quebec pulls out of health care group

Quebec is pulling out of an intergovernmental working group on health set up by the Council of the Federations, saying it intends to concentrate on its own priorities.

The decision, which was made public on Monday, was announced in a letter dated Jan. 11 and signed by Health Minister Rejean Hebert and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Alexandre Cloutier.

The working group was set up in January 2012 to look at improving how health-care services are delivered and how to better manage resources.

News of the withdrawal came as Cloutier testified Monday at a committee looking at spending estimates.

He came under fire from critics from the provincial Liberals and Coalition parties, who said it is contradictory for him to hold the dual portfolios of intergovernmental affairs and minister of sovereigntist governance.

``The minister of intergovernmental affairs is mandated to ensure the proper functioning of the federation and Quebec within the federation,'' said Coalition spokesman Eric Caire. ``I would think that the mandate of the minister of sovereigntist governance would be the contrary.''

Both Caire and Liberal Pierre Moreau said they were worried that Premier Pauline Marois would use public money to promote sovereignty although Cloutier said that so far no taxpayer dollars had been used.

Cloutier also said his two jobs are perfectly compatible.

Cloutier said the Parti Quebecois minority government has no plans to hold a referendum on sovereignty.

``That does not mean that we will sit with our arms folded,'' he said. ``This does not mean that we will not do anything.''

Of course they don't want a referendum. If they actually did separate, they would have to act like a responsible government, instead of spoilt children waving their big stick around and threatening to throw a tantrum, if they don't get more of their own way. When is our government going to call these creeps bluff, and end this farce. This way, they don't have to buy the candy store. They just get it given to them.

These language nuts must be stopped - ethnic cleansing, racist, bigots - all of the above. They are destroying quebec and no one is stopping them. Where is our federal government? Why are they not assisting the anglophones and allophones in quebec? Hateful, divisive, they are going to push us into civil war and they don't give a sweet damn if the province goes down the sewer where it is currently headed. When the next election is held, people have to start voting for the new Equality Party 2.0, rights and freedoms must be restored, language laws struck down and then perhaps we can recover from the devastating destruction that they have put our economy through since they have been in office - 40 years of them is more than enough. If this can't be resolved and they are not put out of office, we must partition this place and let those areas go that vote to leave. We can then have a new bilingual province in Canada and peace and harmony again.
