Santa Cabrini Hospital restricts visitors
An outbreak of antibiotic-resistant bacteria is forcing Montreal's Santa Cabrini hospital to shut its doors to most visitors.
The hospital has seen a total of 65 cases of Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) in the past month.
No deaths have been reported.
A spokesperson for the east-end hospital says it appears the outbreak has stabilized in the past week, but for the moment, they're refusing to allow visitors, except on compassionate grounds.
They're also testing incoming patients for the bacterium.
