The trial is underway for a man charged with drunk driving in the death of an elderly woman in Dollard almost a year ago.

Yvan Grandmaison, 41, is charged with impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing injury.

He was taken into custody at the scene of an accident on Ceres street in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on the evening of February 21st, 2012.

Two people had just been struck by a car from behind as they walked along the street.

A woman Ngnan Wong Yee , 73, was killed in the accident. He husband Shui Poon Hui, 72, was badly injured and remains in a long term care facility.

A police officer who investigated the accident testified alcohol inside the vehicle of the accused and saw a 6-pack of beer on the front passenger seat. Two of the beer cans had been pierced, possibly in the impact.
