The LAPD is now contradicting earlier sources who said a body had been found in a burned-out cabin, 130-kilometres east of Los Angeles, where police believe Chris Dorner had barricaded himself.

Authorities say no seach has been made of the cabin just yet.

Dorner is a fired Los Angeles police officer who is wanted in the killing of two police officers and two civilians.

Police say they heard a single shot before the cabin became engulfed in flames.
