Jesus is my lawyer: Bain

Posted By: Richard Deschamps · 2/20/2013 4:01:00 PM

Richard Henry Bain, the alleged Metropolis shooter, made yet another eventful court appearance Wednesday.

The judge in the case, Jean-Paul Braun, granted a motion allowing Richard Henry Bain's legal aid lawyer, Elfride Duclervil, to withdraw from the case.

A review committee and an appeal committee ruled that Bain is not eligible for legal aid.

That prompted Bain to say he wants to represent himself, adding that he had the best lawyer, the Creator, Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.

The Crown and the judge said it may be best to give Bain some time to think about it, until the middle of next month.

Bain went on several rants during his court appearance. First, he appeared agitated that he was in a glassed-in prisoner's box, then, he got upset that his legal aid lawyer wasn't present and was instead represented by an assistant, and then he complained about not being served in English, and not being able to send documents or letters to the media or the government.

Bain faces charges of killing one man and wounding another on the night of Sept. 4 outside the Metropolis, which served as PQ election night headquarters.
