Man jailed for eating and running
A 32-year old Saint-Hyacinthe man has been sentenced to five months in prison for a series of eat and dash robberies at 15 restaurants in Quebec City.
Jonathan Leblanc and his girlfriend 24-year old Marie-Ève Choiniere would simply go to a restaurant, order food and drinks, eat and then after a while would tell the waiter that they were going out for a cigarette, only to never be seen again.
The largest unpaid bill they left behind was for $480 which included a $100 bottle of wine.
Police originally charged the couple with five restaurant robberies, but a dozen more were added when police began circulating video surveillance photos of the couple.
Choiniere's case is pending and she 'll be back in court next month.
Leblanc had already been serving a five month jail term for a similar series of robberies in Sherbrooke and Saint-Hyacinthe.
