	15-640 Interchange costs skyrocketing Posted By: Andrew Peplowski apeplowski@astral.com · 2/21/2013 6:33:00 AM Costs for the the rebuild of the interchange linking Highway 640 to the Laurentian Autoroute are skyrocketing. When it was originally proposed in 2006, Transport Quebec had the estimate at about $95 million. Today, the estimate has soared to $190 million and the completion date has been pushed back to the end of 2014. The work was supposed to have been finished last year. Ministry officials say most of the delays were caused by errors in assessing the soil in the area which resulted in large construction delays. I wonder if both engineering firms and construction companies would be held accountable for the full project without adding any "extras". Meaning no more fat bonuses!!!! Also it would eliminate delays, and manipulation of "soil types". It cannot be that only in this province we have cost overages that always reach a minimum of 150% of the original cost. We can not forget that there are a mulititue of government levls that have to approve a project when it should be one committee that oversees all approvals.
