Prove I got favours: Mr. Sidewalk
Nicolo Milioto laid down the gauntlet on Thursday.
"I challenge you to prove I got favours from the city," he told the Charbonneau Commission. "I never gave any to anyone."
The retired construction boss known as Mr. Sidewalk spent the morning denying up and down that he offered cash-stuffed brown envelopes to city workers, including city of Montreal engineer Luc Leclerc.
However, he says he did give Leclerc bottles of wine and golf tickets, bought him lunches and dinners and even sent a few of his men over to pour cement for a job at Leclerc's house — something he called a small favour.
He says the gifts were to help speed up things, like work or payment.
