A provincial opposition party says it wants additional protection for whistleblowers.

The CAQ tabled a bill in the National Assembly Thursday aimed at giving all whistleblowers access to physical protection and psychological support.

As well, there'd be big fines for those who try to penalize whitstleblowers or their family members.

The goverment house leader insists current legislation is enough.

The CAQ adds there wouldn't have been a Charbonneau commission without people who speak out.
