Four police officers suspended in suspected assault

Four Trois-Rivières police officers have been suspended with pay pending an investigation to the beating of a robbery suspect caught on video.

The four officers were the first to arrive at the scene of a pharmacy robbery February 2nd.

A video camera mounted outside the building captured the scene as the suspect lay on the ground, hands spread wide as the officers moved in to make the arrest.

As he lay prone the four officers proceeded to kick and punch the man repeatedly about the head and crotch.

At the start of his trial yesterday 19-year old Alexis Vadeboncoeur testified that he suffered a broken tooth and still has bruises from the beating more than two weeks later.

Wow! These are the people that are supposed to protect us? It's frightening and embarassing. These police officers have serious anger management issues - they need help and if this kind of abuse is tolerated systematically, heads should roll...unacceptable!!!!

@Pastaboy Anger ,yes .When they have a chance and there is no danger to their life ,these officers seems to take a please to release their frustration or anger on defenceless poeples. When they put their superman suit, they feel that they are above the law, but without their suit, they are just like you and me NORMAL. These persons must have been beated when they where young and now that they represent the law , its revenge time when they have a chance. You see ,they have the same problemes like everybody else, and it must be boring just giving tickets and crousing all day long, so when there is a opportunity well calculated, they let their anger out. We cannot do that! They are hundred of cases like this that goes un reported because most of the time there is no video or victems have no money to bring them to court. Its funny we never here of police brutality on persons in organised crime, they know darn well not to mess with bill! There employer and the law is to soft with them and have many loopholes and back door to defend these poeples that represent the law. Thank God this victim was not armed with a 2 inch knife, because he could have had more then bruses.
      thank you

    Suspended with pay.... nice
I cannot believe that a man face down, arms and legs spread gets beaten continuously by police will get away with it. If it were you or me, we would be going to jail.( and I am pretty sure my employer would be paying my salary???
    They should be fired

they are many police officers that behaves in this manner and most of the time they get away with it because there is no video proof. My son was a victime. We when to court and lost the case, we had many proof and many contradictions but no video. The judge beleived all their lies and made up senarior of the event.
An advise to the population: If you dont have a video , do not got to court, its 99.9% sure you will loose the case. Those offices that behaves in this mather have 3 clasical explanations to their defense when there is no video: and it works all the time.
1-the suspect was trying to get away
2-the suspect did not colaborate ,or did not want to identify himself
3-the suspect inflicted brouses himself ( hurt himself)
With any of these 3 explanations, they will get away scot free.

Boy, how many cops does it take to arrest one unarmed, submissive kid? Real tough guys. They should be very proud of their vital public service.
"Stop not resisting or I'll have to punch you in the head again!"

If the cops are going to act like pigs you might as well treat them like pigs and slit their throats when you get the chance.

Does anyone have any pics of this poor SAP after the beating, and what injuries did he sustain from this attack? I am very curious if those were serious blows? Did he lose any teeth? Did he have any cracked ribs? Black eyes, Broken jaws?

@Jerry This attack by the police should never have happened...You don't need a picture you see it...If one hair was put out of place it was too much.. These Police officers should definitely be fired...

Did you people even look at the WHOLE video? From the start? 2:41 worth?
This goon is wearing a ski mask, is running away from the cops, which IS resisting arrest, and only stops in his tracks when his retreat - back into the store he must robbed at gunpoint - is blocked off by the employees whose life he just threatened with a handgun. (Which was LATER examined to be a pellet gun. Big deal. Odds are the perp would have used a 9mm, if he had one, admit it).
Here is the GOOD part. Look at him NOT drop his gun, calculating, holding off police officers who have NO cover. He ONLY puts the gun down when the 2 first officers on the scene finally have cover behind the second squad car. Up to this point, they had been risking their lives, possibly catching a bullet for it.
And where does the perp drop his gun? At his FEET, where he can handily pick it up if he sees an opportunity.
All of this is belligerent, criminal behaviour, designed to intimidate the oncoming officers to the last. Attitude. Provocation.
I dare anyone to say they would not lose their temper faced with this behaviour.
You lot are confused by the UNprovoked excesses of the SPVM 728 affair, a terrible mess.
Truth is cops are NOT social workers, they are there to intimidate the bad guys.
Things are going to get out of hand on occasion. But when you dial 911 because your life is being threatened, who would you like to have come running? A social worker?

@Hank Hoffmann Control and evaluation is the key to a good policeman..No matter how you look at it this . this is excess force.. They should be fired...

@Hank Hoffmann Ok we get the point Hank. but question is when the perp was securced why keep beating him. This is like the light bulb joke how many ------ does it take to screw in a light bulb 101 1 to hold it while the other ones to turn the house. Tell me after he was secured they had to punch and kick him for another minute or so. And in pure Quebec fashion another police force will investigate their own and will question them after they have time to get their stories all aligned. I've heard this tune before only the lyrics change.
