Anti-corruption police have issued arrest warrants for five people tied to the MUHC and the superhospital construction.

They include former director Arthur Porter, former MUHC executive Yanai Elbaz and former CEO of SNC Lavalin, Pierre Duhaime.

Unions at the MUHC who are frustrated and discouraged over ongoing big budget cuts say they aren't surprised by the news.

"We were wondering when something would happen," says Line Laroque, president of the nurses' union. "UPAC came to Guy st to pick up some documents last September so we were all wondering when information would come out of it."

Paul Thomas who represents non-medical staff at the MUHC says this just scratches the surface.

"I hope the Commission Charbonneau, the government, the ministry, are going to ask more questions about this," he says. "I don't think this is the end of it."

The five suspects face numerous charges including fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, fraud against the government, and breach of trust.
