A snowy winter and not over yet

Max Desharnais is a meteorologist for Environment Canada. He says it's been quite the snowy winter with precipitation levels well above the average.

"Since November we've accumulated 190 cm in Montreal, and the average is 144 cm," says Desharnais.

The highlight of the winter so far? He says definitely the snowstorm that hit Montreal at the end of December.

"We saw record accumulations of 45.6 cm," he says.

And while many Montrealers are hoping winter is soon behind them, there may still be a few surprises in store.

"March typically sees about 35 cm in average, so, there is still room for one or two snowstorms to hit Montreal."

Hence, not time to put away the winter boots just yet.
