Marois sticking to hard line

Posted By: Claude Beaulieu · 3/6/2013 3:12:00 PM

Premier Marois supports a new call for a harder line on protection of the French language.

While she says she hasn't seen the new advisory from the Conseil Superieur de la Langue Francaise -- the government's advisory body on language policy -- Marois says the Council's recommendation of a harder line on language law enforcement is perfectly in keeping with her government's approach. She points to the proposed new language law, Bill 14.

As for the pasta kerfuffle, the Premier says it was "ridiculous", and suggests that Quebec already has enough on its plate just taking care of the french language.

Marois refused to take questions in English during her late-morning swing through Montreal.

Of course she refused to take English questions. Her English is atrocious. This is what happens when a French (or English) unilingual person is in charge. Concessions for a very diverse city such as Montreal really need to be made. You can't just squash out a full nationality - that's cultural genocide. There is such an enormous and rich vocabulary spoken by the québecois that mish-mashes English, French, and aboriginal. It would be a pity, and hypocrisy, to censor that.

Marois clearly does not represent the English the way she promised to on election night. Her true colors to push up French and oust the English and any non-French is clear and would only worsen if she ever had a majority. Please, let's unload this dud and vote the PQs out before they destroy Quebec.

Do you know any Greeks in Montreal? Every Greek person that I have ever met can speak Greek, no matter what their age. They don't need laws to preserve their language. Why is it that Francophones need laws to protect French?

Protection from what? Being open minded? Having the leading business people in the province bring in more money and resources? It'd be nice to think we moved on to real issues by now in evolution but instead we have bitter old hags trying to shove bigoty down our throats when there are real issues going on in the world. How about those car tire sized pot holes that litter the roads of Quebec? They probably get ignored because the car manufactures don't name cars with French sounding names.

compare what you speak as a language to the French they speak in france and there is a big difference so maybe you should start by converting QUEBECOIS into FRENCH to start with

    Time for a new election!
Queen Marois is full of hatred,a Premier of Quebec should listen to all the people.
She has an agenda to clean up everything and everyone who is not french born.
Quebec does not belong to her,we need jobs here not the lanquage police.

I am sooo fed up with the language law that Marois keeps putting in our face. Maybe she should leave Canada. She just wants to control everyone. She stirred up something that was just fine before she came along. I will continue to say it, we need both English And French. If she wants to stay ignorant then let her but leave the rest of us alone. The thing is why in the hell is she sending her family members to learn english in a private school. Because she doesn`t want them to go through life just wih the French language cause she knows they wouldn`t get far when going outside of Quebec. She has to be stopped with this stupidity.

Marois is a bigot and a leopard does not change its spots. She needs to get lost and very fast.

She's doing this because now hardliners have a new party of their own (option naitonale) and they can leave the PQ if they are not doing what they want.
2% of the vote in only a year and a half is acutally quite an accomplishment.

Unfortunately, angryphones will never have any political power since their vote is taken for granted and they are too difficult to please even though the CAQ is making some efforts.

When the CAQ will understand their "I deserve to have it all before I even think of voting for you" attitude then they will stop trying to please them.

The problem is that Marois isn't the premiere of 'Protecting the French language', she's the premiere of Quebec, all of it!!!! I'm truly hoping that one day I'll think back on her as being the hero of confederation, the one who made separation and linguistic fascism look so stupid that the whole movement will once and for all crumble into the dust. I'm hoping!

What?? Is she out of her ever loving mind. She Is obsessed. Her remark on Quebec having enough on its plate just taking care of the French language...that is not her mandate! She has no mandate! So basically what she is saying is that taking care of the French language takes of her time that she can't take care of less important things like healthcare, and tuition fees, and education, and welfare, and the poor that are getting poorer, infrastructure of roads and bridges and if people tart dying because of her incompetence and obsession with protecting the French language, so what not as important as the French language! She is CERTIFIABLE and needs to be institutionalized ! WHY DOES THE FRENCH LANGUAGE NEED SO MUCH PROTECTION AND FROM WHAT???? THE FRENCH LANGUAGE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE NOR IS IT IN DANGER FROM "OUTSIDE" FORCES. THE FRENCH LANGUAGE HAS SURVIVED VERY NICELY FOR OVER 350 YEARS BEING SURROUNDED BY ENGLISH AND EVERY OTHER LANGUAGE. ET YOU HEAD OUT OF THE SAND MRS. ADOLF, YOU ARE A POSSESSED WOMEN NOT FIT TO RUN ANY GOVT. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO ACCEPT THE FACT TTHAT WE DO NOT LIVE ON AN ISLAND BUT BELONG TO A WONDERFUL MULTILINGUAL COUNTRY AND WITH CANADA AND THE U.S. COMBINED FRENCCH IS .001% OF LANGUAGE SPOKEN! THAT IS A REALITY THAT IS NOT GOING AWAY BECAUSE OF GEOGRAPHY. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO IT WILL NOT CHANGE THE PERCENTAGE. IT IS A CASE OF GEOGRAPHY VERSUS OTHER LANGUAGES SPOKEN BASED ON PERCENTAGES. YOU ARE FORCING PEOPLE OUT THE POPULATION DROPS MORE AND BIRTHS ARE NOT ON THE RISE, YOU CHASED AWAY MOST OF THE YOUNG SO THE FUTURE PERCENTAGES LOOK EVEN WORSE, YOU CANNOT CHANGE THAT IN A MILLION YEARS. LET IT GO OR LEAVE YOU CAN ADD ALL THE LAWS YOU WANT AND IT WILL STILL NOT CHANGE THE NUMBERS, GO FIND YOURSELF A DESERTED ISLAND SOMEWHERE YOU AND YOUR GOONS, ALL IT WHAT EVER YOU WANT AND SPEAK FRENCH TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT. I AM A FRENCH QUEBECER BORN HERE, BUT YOU MAKE ME ASHAMED OF MY HERITAGE AND ARE BEGINNING TO MAKE ME HATE THE FRENCH LANGUAGE, NOT JUST ME BUT OTHER FRENCH QUEBECERS TOO. WAKE UP GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE CLOUDS AND STOP THIS INSANITY. LEAVE. LEAVE. LEAVE. YOU COULD NOT EVEN GET 32% OF THE POPULAR VOTE, SO WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT YOU HAVE NO MANDATE, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS THERE, GO JOIN THE OLD BOYS CLUB OF FAILURES OF THE PQ AND SIT WITH THEM. JUST GO

Wow silly me for thinking running the province in the worst recession since the great depression was more important.

We are all "Pasta" caring about the old 78 record you keep playing, what about the real a problems like health care and jobs?

I feel sorry for the people of Quebec who are trapped in the 1812's and seem content to let these people remove their rights to free education choices and freedom of speech.
