Body found in river in Valleyfield
A grisly discovery Saturday in a river southwest of Montreal.
"Our team, divers of the Surete de Quebec, they found the body of a man. It's an old man, in the river of Saint Charles in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. And this man, we will ask an autopsy about that, this body and the investigation is still on-going", said provincial police sargeant Claude Denis
The body could well be that of a 71-year old man, who was reported missing December 1st.
Authorities had been looking for the man, identified as Gerard Whitter, in that area.
A longtime friend of Whitter, who was on the scene when the body was pulled from the river, is reported saying it looks like Whitter's body.
